It Is Possible — Rick Padilla on Becoming the Man You Promised

In this episode of Man vs Marriage it is time to hear from a guy who is in the game.

Rick Padilla has been a guest before. This time the assignment is simpler: let men hear a brother who actually walked it. Podcasters do not have it all together. Neither do the men listening. Over 400 episodes later, Quincy puts a man on the mic who has been in the work with him — so listeners can see the journey is real.

Rick is a husband to Danielle, married about 26 years (anniversary 6/7/8), together since 2001. They have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly — twice over. He says they are now in the healthiest place they have ever been. That did not happen by accident.

He was in a dark place around 2020–2022. Quincy had reached out years earlier. It was not time yet. When it was time, Quincy was there. They started working heavily in 2022. Danielle is the one who initiated it. Give her the credit. She prayed. She pushed. She even cut hair in the Moran house in the middle of autism and chaos.

Rick’s foundation is two things: love and accountability.

Love shown and love given. Accountability to the man you said you would be. Most men think they know who they are being until they have real conversations with real people and stay in those conversations long enough to hear the truth.

Later in the episode the talk goes where adult kids live: impact vs intention, apology without excuse, and becoming a lighthouse. When children become adults you may look at them and think, who are you? Look back at who you were at twenty. Then build the kind of trust that gives them a true north — so when they lose their way they know where to look.

Rick’s close:

It does not matter what stage you are in. If you are ready to make a change, make a change. Be intentional. Come from love. You do not have to be right. It is okay to feel. It is okay to talk to someone. Men need to hold each other up. Change is hard. Change is possible. You get out of it what you put into it.

Quincy closes with the gospel invitation and the next era: this program is transforming into Family Famous. Your family is your first ministry. Be famous where it matters most.

A Family Man! A Happily married man however that happiness hasn't always come easy. After 10 years of marriage and 8 children with numerous medical emergencies and family tragedy we had become roommates. Fast forward 10 years and we have become closer than either of us had ever known possible. After this amazing transformation thanks to our marriage coach Rita Enos, my wife and I decided to give back to the entire Human Race and give Men the opportunity to decide "How Good do you want your life/Marriage to be"? I am hardwired to inspire because it gives me life! It was only natural that I take this desire to inspire and my incredibly handsome face for radio to make a difference like I have experience in my own life.
